On LLC, can my partner and I file separate taxes next year?

My friend and I starting an LLC- both of us the owner. We plan to file tax next year and we plan to split the profit and expenses for this LLC.. he files his own tax, I'll file my own. Is that allowed - both of us file seaparate taxes for this LLC? Do we need to have our individual EIN?
