Next random chemistry question==>zinc carbonate+hydrochloric acid?

If excess powdered zinc carbonate is added to dilute hydrochloric acid, (then the excess zinc carbonate is filtered off afterwards) ...., how do you know when the reaction is finished, and what are the residue and the filtrate?
