Why is it that when a woman is strong, educated, determined and focused she is then said to be "manly"?
Just reading in the paper that Sen. John Edwards wife, I guess in attempt to compliment her husband, accused Sen. Hillary Clinton of being "manly". Even saying Hillary doesn't dwell enough on women's issues. Now, in my opinion Hillary is running for the position of President of the United States, not Mrs. America or some pageant queen. She has to be knowlegable and able to address the important issues of our society as a whole, not just women. Personally, I feel it's a man world, especially in government and if you are gonna talk the talk you gotta walk the walk. I think Hillary is a great woman and a wonderful example of a good wife. She is often the source of some rather silly jokes and yet she has not let that deter her or caused her to lose focus of her dreams and aspirations. So, now tell me do you think it is fair to label Hillary Clinton or any woman, "manly" because she is strong and determined to come out on top despite the odds?
