Girlfriend with vowel problems?

My girlfriend has recently divulged to me a very surious thing. She has problems with vowels, when shes typing or writing, she says that she cannot think them when she is writing or typing. Recently i have realized that i was a real jerk, partly involving that. so that will never happen again, i want to know anything and everything about this condition. starting, does anybody know the name of it? can somebody provide info? a link? I realy like her, and i would in anyway love to help her with this. Please, i beg of you, i need your help.
