Can I beat a speeding ticket in court if trooper really didn't catch me?

my cousin was following me and I didn't see him, so I turned around and seen he was getting a speeding ticket. So I pulled up a ways behind them to wait on him, the trooper finished with him and let him go then made me pull over and said he is writing me a ticket for going the same speed as my cousin. My cousin later told me that he was mad he couldn't get me first.
